Julian King’s Tuscany Barn House

Sshhhh, don’t tell my husband, but I’m in love. This is not a schoolgirl crush – this is the real thing.

So, I’m researching how to convey atmosphere within my drawings and architectural models and through Drawing ARCHITECTURE I come across the most amazingly beautiful model by Julian King Architect. Julian King’s work has been shown on Dezeen and his own website shows some breathtaking concepts and work.

King’s Tuscany Barn House models have left me breathless. Here’s some pics … Have you got your asthma inhalers ready?

Are they not amazing? AND guess what else! The barn’s renovation is to be a place where the client (a writer) can retire in, and in King’s own words, “[re]write her life story”. Now, seeing as the hospice I’m designing is based on the premise of providing a space that provokes the occupier to reach a psychological turning point in their own narrative – that sounds just perfect.

Oh, and did I mention the project won first prize in the in the Shinkenchiku Residential Design Competition 2009?
